POETRY CORNER Bare I Stand....dying....the last of lifes' energy slowly drains these cold appendages. No more do I bear soft pliable leaves or honey sweet fruit or blossoms of spring. Here I will stand though dead till age rots my limbs and time eats at my trunk. The cold winds will tear at my barren limbs till they crack and fall. Alone amoung the living a symbol of strength no more. Weep with the willows for their time too shall come. Here Bare I Stand....crying. I remember days before when springs tingled, touched, and tickled my twigs with new life. Gentle breezes that caressed, sweet rains that quenched my thirst, warm sunshine I basked in, wild animals that played in my branches high and I comforted some at the beginning of night. Never alone was I with the birds and their young and the butterflies that sparkled within my leaves. Now all will end as my last autumn draws near. One final time shall I shed these leaves. One final time and the life giving sap shall rise no more and I shall cry. Bare....I Now Stand....dead! L.J.TINNELL
